3 Low-Cost, Hobbies to Pick Up this Weekend

This year has had a rough start, but we have made it through! Take 20 minutes today and really think about what you enjoy the most. The question is not what you do the most, but what you enjoy the most. I clarify this because if someone asks me what I really love to do, I can say ‘read’. Now, I cannot remember the last time I had a chance to sit down and actually read a book. Reading is still, however, one of my favorite things to do. Do you see why I had to clarify?

Find three hobbies you love: one to make you money, one to keep you in shape, and one to be creative.

3 low-cost and time-conscious hobbies to pick up this Spring

Journaling– I love collecting journals! One of my goals for this Spring is to actually use them. I have several ideas on what I want to write in them, but haven’t started yet. An article by Rochester University suggests that journaling can help you manage anxiety, reduce stress, and cope with depression. After a long winter, you may want to do some mental spring-cleaning to declutter your mind, consider journaling as an outlet. Journaling can be fun or boring depending on how you look at it and the things you decide to write about.

Things to write about:

  • Lists
  • Experiences
  • Poems
  • Daily reflections
  • Goals (short and long-term)

Working out– Yup, I Googled it. Working out is indeed a hobby. This hobby may seem contrary to time-conscious, but if you think about it, the main piece of equipment is your body, and you have that with you all the time! Working out is much more than just spending hours (that you do not have) at the gym. I lost 20 pounds by using every break I had in the day to work out. I did lunges, squats, standing side leg raises, and other quick exercises throughout the day. Start little by little and soon you will find yourself pulling off a complete workout routine.

Nail art– Personally, I am not too creative to work on paper crafts, but I enjoy nail painting. I began doing this about 7 years ago. I used to do my own nails every other day! Then I got pregnant with my daughter and didn’t have time for that anymore. I still continue to learn different techniques and like to apply them in my own nails. This hobby will take you about 30 minutes a a time. It is both relaxing and fun. Click here for simple nail-art ideas.

I enjoy nail color, but my go to color are neutral/nudes

Hopefully you are able to take that dust out of you old, unused hobby and put it to practice this Spring. I know I have a few dusty hobbies I would like to retake!

Sincerely,

Stay tuned. Coming up next… Beating Stress Eating
